New PvP System - Clarifications (auf englisch)
Hello Paxians,
Thank you for the constructive and interesting discussions around the latest announcement regarding the new PvP system.
We’ve heard your concerns about PvP participation and want to be transparent about our approach. In Pax Dei, PvP is intended as one of the core drivers of the economy and the living world. Territory control, wars, and conflict create demand for crafting, gathering, trade, and cooperation - they help keep the game meaningful and alive over time. To be clear, PvP will not be mandatory, but it will have an impact on other areas of the game and will affect PvE players in other ways. Trade between Lyonesse and the Home Valleys will be essential for everyone to thrive.
Our vision is that the benefits of territory ownership, tax income, and other war objectives belong to the players and clans who rise to meet the challenge and accept the risks in full. Victories and rewards should feel like actual achievements, earned through courage and commitment. These rewards exist to inspire players to accept the full weight of risk and conflict, turning the struggle for territory and power into something thrilling and worthwhile. The promise of these rewards makes every battle fought and every objective defended part of a meaningful story in the world of Pax Dei. While the system of feudal claims is designed with organized clans in mind, Trade Towns are built to support smaller clans, and even solo adventurers.
We’ve also heard concerns about the risk of splitting existing communities, and we are exploring ways to minimize that impact while still staying true to the principles above.
You also had several questions about future features, particularly regarding seasons. We’re still in the process of finalizing the design for these, so we cannot share more details at the moment.
Last but not least, in case you missed it, the valleys of Lyonesse bear the names of Arthurian legend: Avalon, Brecilien, Karrek, and Corbin. Once lush lands of enchantment, Lyonesse has become a realm scarred by warfare, its forests haunted, and its biomes corrupted. Many of its stories remain untold. Arthur is not the only soul bound to this land, several Redeemers have also walked its paths.
We know the complete PvP plans are pretty ambitious, and we’ll make sure we don’t design them in a way that leaves anyone behind.
Please keep the feedback coming!
Pax vobiscum, The Mainframe Team
