Spotlight - Upcoming Building Changes

Hello Paxians,

Last week’s announcement about upcoming building changes led to a lot of questions from the community. Many of you wanted more information on the reasons behind these changes and what they might mean for building and crafting in the future.

Let’s do a deep dive into the upcoming changes with answers to all (or almost all) your questions.

Why make changes?

Building in Pax Dei is about creativity and expression, but some inconsistencies in material costs have made certain choices feel less intuitive. We want players to design their structures based on aesthetics rather than minor differences in resource costs. Additionally, we’ve found that some crafting recipes were more complicated than necessary, slowing down the building process.

Our goal with these changes is twofold:

  1. Consistency –  Comparable building pieces should have uniform costs, ensuring that your taste and aesthetics drive your choices more than the cost constraints. We also unified the unlock levels of the sets.[Unsupported inline type: unordered-list]
  2. Simplification – Reducing the variety of materials required for each piece will enhance crafting accessibility while maintaining depth and variety.

We understand that some of you may worry these changes will make the game feel "too simple," but we want to reassure you that this is not our intention, nor is it the future of Pax Dei. As stated above, our goal is to make Pax Dei more accessible to newcomers while maintaining long-term challenges.

For the next content update, we are adjusting the building system and will continue refining other systems as needed. We are always reviewing balance and player feedback to ensure that crafting, building, and the overall game experience remain engaging and rewarding.

What’s changing?

In the upcoming content update - Market Square Part 3 - we’re making the following adjustments:

  • Wall and roof costs:[Unsupported inline type: unordered-list]

  • Crafting recipe streamlining:[Unsupported inline type: unordered-list]

What does that mean for me as a player?

These changes mean a more intuitive and faster building experience. You’ll spend less time managing excessive materials and more time focusing on designing your dream structure. The simplification of material requirements still means you’ll need to find and process resources, but it removes extra steps that added little to the overall experience, making it easier for both new and experienced players to build efficiently.

For example, a regular wall and a windowed wall now cost the same, so you can choose what you want based on style. Fewer crafting materials per piece also mean less back-and-forth to storage, letting you focus more on building.

Will other changes be made to crafting or resources?

Yes! While the upcoming content update brings these refinements, we’re also working on new building pieces to complement existing sets like cottages, huts, and half-timber structures. 

Additionally, the Limestone and Ornamental Logs sets are in the works and are expected to be ready for the next major content update (aka Verse 3), bringing even more customization options.
